Walthamstow International Film Festival 2014

On Friday 28th February a group of LSC Media students took part in a practical film-making workshop with Walthamstow International Film Festival directors Paul and Liza Fletcher. The workshop, which took place at local arts venue Vestry House Museum, was based on Alfred Hitchcock’s classic “The Birds”, and formed part of a series of Hitchcock events taking place around the borough throughout March.  Students explored the theme of “Fear and Suspense in The Birds” through a series of practical activities. They then created their own short film based on the theme.  The setting of Vestry House Museum reinforced the creepy, suspenseful atmosphere.  Students enjoyed working with film professionals on this task and learning more about the iconic director’s work, camera and how shots edit together.

Both Media students and film enthusiasts are invited to submit an entry to the Film Festival in the Under-18s category. The deadline is 30th April and there are some valuable prizes on offer.  Please see Vanessa Clyne in A23 if you wish to enter, as we will send a group LSC submission.  For further information about the Film Festival and the workshops offered, go to http://www.e17films.com/ .  Clips of the LSC students’ short films will also be posted on this website.

Calling all A2 media students: DEADLINE is looming!!

This is a reminder that your deadline for the Evaluation is Thursday 6th March.  This means that after half term, you only have a week and half to get this completed and uploaded.  Over half term you need to make sure that you spend ENOUGH time on this element of the coursework. It is worth 20% of the coursework project! By Monday 24th January I expect you to bring to class a really good draft response of all four questions.  I expect that over the break you will have also researched and thought about which technologies you are going to use to present the answers-- and that they are fit for purpose.  In other words, use the week and a half after half term to get your answers refined and presented using appropriate technology

And a final reminder: Your deadline for EVERYTHING to be on your blog, improved to a quality you are happy with, is Monday 10th March.

If you need to show me any draft work over half term, you could email me on Vanessa.clyne@leyton.ac.uk and / or medialeyton@gmail.com
