A2 revision sessions after half term

Dear A2 Media students
I have reworked your usual timetabled classes for the two days before the exam. I am hoping that these times will be more convenient for you ( no 9 o'clock starts!), and that you have longer sessions to revise in.  These sessions are open to ALL A2 Media students.
Bring any practice essays, notes and questions with you. These sessions will be guided by YOU.

Times / dates as follows:
Monday 6th June 11-12.30 A9
Tuesday 7th June 10.20-12:30 (postmodernism will be 11:30-12:30) and 2-3

In the meanwhile, you can continue to email us essays/ questions. medialeyton@gmail.com

***URGENT coursework assessment for AS and A2 Media students***

UPDATE: AS students
We are well underway with our assessment of your coursework and there is some promising looking work so far.  DO NOT TOUCH YOUR BLOGS!! Doing so could mean that all our assessment is incorrect. You will not get a higher grade, but you WILL get the wrong grade, and potentially affect other people's grade

UPDATE: A2 students
We have started assessing the coursework.  There are some missing parts of the Evaluation for a small number of students, for whom we have NOT agreed and extension. YOU KNOW IF THIS IS YOU. If you have failed to upload any evaluation questions, and have missed the deadline, this HAS BEEN NOTED and marks will be deducted for time management. If this applies to you, you need to email us on medialeyton@gmail.com to explain what you plan to do to fix this problem.  As you should be well aware, the Evaluation is worth 20% of the coursework grade.

***AS MEDIA STUDENTS: A final chance to improve your music magazine 6th January 2016***

Please attend a workshop on Wednesday 6th January at 2.30-5.30. We will be based in rooms A9 and A10.  Here we will be able to support you in making final improvements to the music magazine, using individual action points. I suggest that ALL AS MEDIA STUDENTS attend this, as  you can all improve your magazines. For some of you, this will make the difference of an A level grade.

If you intend to come along to this workshop, you will have needed to draft your Evaluation over the Xmas break.

Please let us know if you will NOT be able to attend, and we will mark the existing version of your magazine on your blog.

Into Film Festival- Workshop with journalist Anna Smith

On 11th November the AS Media students travelled to the new Regent's Street Cinema to attend a talk and workshop with noted journalist Anna Smith. She told us about how she got into journalism, and in particular her experiences as a film journalist for magazines such as Empire, Time Out and Sight and Sound.  She also spoke about her writing for music magazines and women's magazines and gave us invaluable tips on networking, developing a career and journalism, working to deadlines and how to engage an audience.  Leyton students asked a range of interesting questions and impressed Anna with their intelligence and enthusiasm.  Students were able to use this opportunity to help them plan for the journalism they are writing for their own music magazine.
