The Task
For the Foundation Portfolio, you will
work individually or in pairs, and you will produce pages from
a magazine. You will learn how to use
Desk Top Publishing and image manipulation programmes, to take photographs,
write journalism, and produce appropriate layouts. You will each produce:

The preliminary
task: pages from a college magazine- a front cover and contents page
·
The main task: pages
from a music magazine- a front cover, contents page and a double page spread,
using all original material, including minimum 6 images per student.
You will be assessed for your Planning
(20%), Construction (60%) and Evaluation (20%)
Alongside planning, producing and
evaluating your media work, you will be blogging your progress, and the blog will be used
for the presentation and submission of the coursework project. At every stage of the production of your
preliminary and main tasks, you should take print screens to add to
your websites, as evidence of progress. These
print screens should be annotated on the blog, to show your progress and
journey. You will be required to blog your progress at least every week. Those
students achieving higher grades will blog more often. The purpose of the blog is to plan, reflect
and monitor, as well as to upload all the work you’ve done on the Foundation
