Project: Final Major Project
Units covered: Unit 1: Pre-production techniques, Unit 3: Research techniques, Unit 4: Production Management Project (Unit 16: Editing techniques partial)
Teacher: Amy Hellerman
Brief
This assignment is your final major project and covers three units (and 1 partial unit). You will use the skills developed in other units to carry out research into a video idea that you have originated. You will carry out relevant pre-production activities for the video. You will gain experience in production management through managing a production team or a part of one, and taking personal responsibility for the finished product or an aspect of it. You will demonstrate your skills in developing a media production, or a major part of one, from research and pre-production through the proposal stage and finally to completion. You will have the opportunity to practice and develop your professional skills in pitching your idea to a client, and wherever possible you are encouraged to work in collaboration with a live client. You will undertake, complete and evaluate the finished production and your role in the production management process.
An important part of this assignment is maintaining a regular Production blog, in which you regularly review and evaluate your pre-production, production and post-production progress as a production manager and a creative practitioner. This will take the form of a group blog which you will set up using Blogger. All paperwork, research and planning must be uploaded to your blogs. Your blogs will also be used for individual and group feedback and comments.
